July's Sew Bee Wonky Blocks

Well I've finished them and its not even July yet!! Yay!! I'm ahead on something for once!! These are the blocks I did for Kandra. She wanted a wonky log cabin, solid square blocks. And this is what I came up with. Sorry the camara distorted the colors some what. They are Kona Solids in grey, yellow, teal, light teal, and gray/black. Very calming colors.

June Progress

(Sammi, Daisy, Sidney, Cheyenne)

So I feel that June has just gone by WAY to fast. It seems like I got Koda's birthday out of the way and the month is now gone and July starts tommorrow crazy huh.

This month has been full of watching my neices and nephew, which has been lots of fun and really not all that bad. I have a lot of wide open space to just kick them outside and let them go. Its funny though how my girl is really the only one who roams, she usually can get Tanner and Sadey to go with her, but her other three cousins usually need me RIGHT THERE! Its kinda annoying seems like I can't get anything done.

Tractor Riding
(Sammi, Koda, Daisy, Sidney)

(Koda & Cheyenne)
I've also been put on the scheduale to help Grandma Liebhardt get out of bed. She had to have a foot amputated and so while she is getting use to it, she has to be helped out of bed into her wheelchair and then helped back into bed at nights. I got the morning shift, which is great for me, we are morning people here (although five years ago I was not!).

:)
The other great news....Koda got my washing machine hooked up and I did my first load last night!!!!!!!!! This is so wonderful!!!!!! Now maybe I'll have to actually stick to potty training Daisy since I have a washing machine now.

Quilting Music

So whats your music or show that you quilt too? My go-to music is anything by Chris LeDoux (ok I'll admit it I'll listen to him for just about everything) or I plug in Reba (the tv show) or Greek (another tv show). These help me to relax, for I know the shows don't have to watch them and the music is just wonderful, and I just quilt. I love it!

Pinwheel Progress

Lookie Lookie here, I've gotten all my blocks from my block exchange that I told you about earlier. Remember there was six of us, we made two different blocks each and this is what came forth! I think it looks great. Now I just need to decide how to lay it out and how/what to use for my sashing. I'm trying really hard to have this done by July 1st so I can have it on my couch by the 4th. Hope it works out!

A few interesting notes of observation:
1. We all used different fabric designs/colors. Critieria: Red, White, & Blue, What variations!
2. 3 of us used the same pattern twice (six blocks are the same pattern) but you can't tell because of the different colors that everyone used.
4. It turned out great!

Stages of Marriage

With wedding season upon us my thoughts have turned to love, marriage, and companionship. I've also noticed different styles of marriage and different stages. I'm not going to go in depth here at all keeping it light and simple, I mean I do have a life beyond writing my thoughts down. So I've come up with stages of marriage (or at least how I view them).

1. Newly Wed Bliss
This stage is obvious and very self explanitory. Its usually the newly wedded couple that have this stage. You can see it in their eyes, their body language, their attitude. Very much in love. It begins before the marriage in their engagement days and is tripled in magnaitude after the marriage [especailly if they were not physically active before, you know what I mean :)]. They are in love!

2. Teamwork
This stage usually happens after the first child has appeared and they may have more children or more children are planned to arrive. When the first child arrives it exhaustion and some fearfullness thats apparent, but has they work together and become parents together then has the other children arrive you can see the marriage in full force teamwork mode! Cause it does take a team and sometimes a village to raise a child. This stage is defintally the longestest and the more children they have the longer it goes. I would argue that this stage continues on after their children have left the nest and started to become parents themselves, especially if they are still working and have not retired yet.

3. Companionship
This stage is the most apparent in after the couple has retired. For they are no long having to work 24 hrs a day with keeping the house clean, the laundry done, the kids feed, ect. Nor are they having to go to a job anymore, they are home with their sweetheart after many years of marriage. Sometimes you see a bit of Newly Wed Bliss show back up, but its not like it was when they were newly weds. They are the couple that does stuff together, grocery shop, sit on the porch, go to church, and they aren't having to keep their eyes on little ones running around, they are able to just enjoy each others company. What a wonderful stage, tell you one thing, I'm looking forward to this. This stage can also come before the couple has children if they wait awhile to have children they will fall into this mode or a form of it.

4. Just waiting
This stage happens when one member of the couple has passed on, and the other one is just waiting to move on to be their loved one.

Now I know that marriage IS NOT has easy has it sounds here nowhere near it, but there is defintaly these stages throughout marriage. Just a thought.

Dress Time

So this is Princess in her newest dress. She LOVES dresses and thinks she has to wear one every day (yes even working cows she thinks she needs one), so I decided to make her a bunch of little dresses to wear cause it was cheaper and they are fast to put together. Well here is number one of the lot. One thing is certain it would've gone together a lot quicker if I hadn't had four kids four and under for two days when I decided to make it. Haha next time I'll know better. Anyways just had to show off my most recent sewing project. I think it turned out great!

Ranchers Wife

So do you want to know what its like to be a ranchers wife?

You might be a ranchers wife....
...If you know how to change the flat on your truck, but can't because the spare is on a flatbed.
...If your second vehicle is still a pickup.
...If your husband has ever used field equipment to maintain your lawn. ...If "picking rock" is considered a chance to get out of the house.
...If taking lunch to the pasture is as close as you get to a picnic.
...If you can mend a pair of pants and the fence that ripped them.
...If the shopping list in your purse incldes the sizes of filters, tires, chains, cables, spark plugs or shotgun shells.
...If your kids' wading pool has ever double as a stock tank or vice versa
...If duct tape is always on your shopping list.
...If the directions to your house includes the words, "miles", "silos", "last", or "gravel/dirt road". ...If you measure travel in miles not minutes.
...If your husband says, "Can you help me for a few minutes?" and you know that might be anywhere from a few minutes to six hours.
...If grass stains are the least of your laundry problems.
...If your refrigerator contains medicine, livestock medicine.
...If you need a pair of vice grips to run a house hold appliance
...If your husband gave you flowers, but you had to plant the seeds yourself.

You think I'm kidding? Haha nope, this is the truth same goes for being a ranchers daughter. Oh but I wouldn't do anything else.

The Hunger Games

Summary: In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before -- and survival. -- Scholastic

June's Book is The Hunger Games by Suzann Collins. It is an edge of your seat kind of book. There's a little bit of everything mixed in; love, comedy, death, the whole works. Want to know a bit more about this book? Check out Bookin Mama's blog she gives a great overview of it.

Nursing Cover

Remember that way cute fabric I showed you a couple days a go? Well here is project number one: cut, sewn, completed, and given to the happy new owner.

It is a nursing cover for a new momma. If your like me you will love this! Number one: the little rascal can't pull it down and expose you to everyone in sight when nursing in public. Number two: its fabric for you so most people don't even know your nursing, cause its obviously not a baby print fabric. Number three: easy to clean and pack with you on your travels. Number four: you can peek at the little rascal and nobody else can without having to move it all over the place.

I believe that every nursing mother would love to have one of these, they are so convinent and very cute. Want one? or do you know of someone wanting one? Let me know I can make it for you!
