October Bee Blocks

My thankful thought of the day goes right along with the many blocks I did for the quilting bee's this month. I'm very thankful that my Auntie Renee teaches a sewing class at the high school and that I was able to take it. Quilting is a very important part of my life. Like I've said before quilting is a major stress reliever for me. I enjoy these bee's for they are just little enough projects, plus I get to try many differnt styles of blocks that I never thought I'd do, to do with two children. I'm thinking though that five bee's may have been a little to much, It squeezes out the time I have to do my own projects. But I really enjoy the groups and the ladies in them.

This month was mine in Sew Bee Wonky and because of a flaker, they had Oct and Nov to finish them. So far I've gotten two blocks back...and I LOVE THEM! Last month (Sept) was my month in Bee Quilted and in Newbee. I've gotten all my Bee Quilted blocks back, just need to get them sewn together and I'm still waiting on two Newbee blocks. Hopefully they show up soon, cause I want that quilt done by December time.

I can't decide...Can you help?

Last night I was so excited I'd finished appliquing the last of my watermelon seeds onto my watermelon blocks for my watermelon quilt. And the plan today was to sew the top all together, then I'd be that much closer to finishing this WIP. But thanks to my husband, who told me the way I was laying it out didn't look like watermelon, I still think it does, and after I explained it to him he seen it. So he showed me the way he did it, and we started playing around with different ways to lay this quilt out, and this morning I did some more playing around (you've gotta love the log cabin block so many possiblilities). Now I don't know what I like best...maybe you guys can help me.

Which layout looks the best for you, remember its a watermelon quilt.

Also just look at the placement, I will make sure the colors are all even looking when I do the final layout, and sorry some of the pictures are kinda blurry, I'm really thinking I need a new camera.

These two pictures are the same layout, one is just more extended, I will have to make more green blocks to finish this layout, and that would not be a problem, even then do you like the smaller one or the bigger one!?

A Favorite...

So I realized today that I haven't shared an actual quilt for a while so I looked through my pics and here is a post about a favorite quilt of mine. The Monticello Log Cabin Pattern. I haven't named this quilt, I don't know what to name it, so if you have an suggestions let me know them!

This quilt is one that I did in high school, in fact if I'm remembering correctly It was my second one I did or it might've been the third, IDK, Anyways I know it took a semester and a half to complete it from cutting to binding. I also did a lot of fancy quilting on it and each block has a design and the borders all have different designs. You can kinda see the quilting in the pic below.

The piecing itself took FOREVER! I didn't chain piece it, but strip by strip, so each strip was pre-cut then sewn all individualy. One this is for sure now, I know how to do it much quicker now! Another interesting tidbit, your suppose to base your quilt around the corner triangle piece fabric, but when I bought my material I didn't find anything and so I bought the blues and pinks sewed the block, then when it came time to put the corner triangle in I went and found my fabric. I think it turned out wonderful.

I think it turned out wonderful and I just wish I had a wall or a guest bedroom that I could display it on. I don't dare put it on my bed with the little children I have and you know what they say about children, "when you have children everything will eventually end up with puke, blook, or poop on it." So for now this quilt is in storage. *sniffle*
