Diaper Bags are Awesome

Or at least the ones I make are.
Or so I'm told.
Michelle's Diaper Bag
My friend put her order in to have me make her a diaper bag back when I made mine in April.
Only she added in plenty of extras.
Which was just fine.
It made me think and learn some new things.
Pockets and Zippered Divider inside
I'm so happy with how they've turned out!
So are a lot of other girls.
I've had lots ask about them.
Divider pulls out.
I need to find a price to charge per hour so I can make a tiny bit of profit.
I mean Michelle's diaper bag took 9 hrs to make.
I also made her a cute car seat cover.
Car seat cover
This is another thing that is in high demand.
Yet another reason to find a small price to charge.
I love making them and I love doing custom work.
I want to make people happy with what I can make them.
Yes I take pictures on my tramp with my totally awesome kid pool in the background. So sue me.
So what do you think?
Aren't they cute?
What amount should I place upon my time?
I don't know.

PS The tutorial I kinda follow for the diaper bag is found at Moda Bake Shop.

Blessing Day

Miss Melody was blessed on July 3rd by her Father.
It was a beautiful day.
We had lots of family support.
I love my family, they are so good to us.
Why are my pictures doing this?
This one actually looks kinda cool.
A little story about the blessing dress.
My sister and I both had our own blessing dress.
So when I had Daisy I was determined that my girls were going to have their own blessing dresses too.
Daisy had hers given to her by her Great-Grandma Savage.
Page's was my blessing dress that my Grandma Savage made for me.
Melody's blessing dress was given to her by my mom.
The day of the blessing came around.
I had her dressed and ready to go.
As I was sitting there in the pew I noticed the dress was a little on the yellow side.
I thought "Did my mom buy an old blessing dress or something?"
So after the blessing and further on into sacrament my mom is holding Melody.
When she discovers something.
Melody is not wearing her blessing dress.
She is wearing my sisters.
Interesting huh?
So Melody has a blessing dress that she didn't wear.
She wore a dress worn by her Aunt 22 years ago.
Wonder if there is any hidden meaning in this.
Probably not.

Just how life goes I suppose.

Miss Melody

Thursday, April 28th our newest little angel arrived.

It was a long time coming. I started having contractions Easter Sunday, went in and got sent home; Early Labor. Well I kept having these contractions on and off. We seen the doctor on Wednesday and asked if I could be induced. Koda had been off work and just hanging around just in case. We didn't dare start working on our water line, in case she showed up in the middle of the project, so it was just waiting. And my patience was GONE. Dr. B was also leaving the next day for like five days and I wanted him to be there to deliver me.

Well by the end o the day, I was scheduled to go in at seven the next morning to be induced. Next morning about five thirty I get a call, telling me that during the night all the labor rooms had filled up and to call back about nine to see when to go in. So we waited, I called, and I could get right in. Now of course it took us a hour and half to get there.

So ten twenty I was in the labor room, hooked up and ready to go. Twelve thirty came along and Dr. B came and checked me and broke my water. An forty five minutes later the epidural finally showed up I was hurting pretty good by then. Two o'clock came along and I was wanting to push pretty badly. The epidural still hadn't quite taken full effect by then. Dr. B was able to get there and deliver me, although it was scheduled for Dr. A to do it. They figured that it would take a lot longer then two hours to get her here. I suppose it was a good thing we had me induced cause I figure if I hadn't and Koda was still at work, there is no way he would've gotten there in time for the delivery.

So we had our Melody Belle at 2:23 pm Thursday April 28th. She weighed in at 7 lbs 10 oz and a length of 19.5 inches and has a ton of hair.

Daisy is captivated by her and wants to help me do everything if it includes "Mellie". Page is a little more skeptical and has realized she's not the baby anymore and is turning into a regular toddler with tantrums being thrown over the littlest things. My sweet little baby girl is growing up, but I guess that happens, especially when you get a new baby in the house. One thing I was shocked by was how big Page actually was, its amazing, she isn't a baby. Haha funny I know. We are glad Melody is here and even though I'm a little more stressed out now, we'll someday figure it out.

It really does happen three napping at once

Sewing Days

Its been a bunch of sewing days around here at my house. I've finally finished with my last project that I had planned...But I've found this tutorial for a shirt dress, that you make from a men's dress shirt...ya that is being added to my to-do list.

I've been busy sewing baby needed items like car seat canopies, car seat swaddlers, a diaper bag, and a clutch, just because.

Here are the canopies. I made three. a green one for my cousin Jakelle (due 6/14/2011), a blue one for my cousin Mindi (had her baby yesterday), and a brown/orange on for me (due 4/30/2011). Three little girls, one right after the other, lots of fun!!! I used a basic pattern with some added twists of my own, like the snap's and buttons.
I also made Jakelle a car seat swaddler, I'm thinking I'll make me one too. I didn't get Mindi one made, since the baby is already here. This design was my own. Good Job Marlynn!!

I also made me a new diaper bag, following this tutorial, from Moda Bake Shop. Fairly easy, but I had to figure somethings out. Good thing I made me one first before I made someone else one. Just so I know how to do it for sure!

And a cute little ruffled clutch following this tutorial, by Anna over here at Noodlehead.

Totally Cute right???
So other then that really my girls have done an excellent job of getting on my nerves and tearing my house apart.

Nursing Cover

Remember that way cute fabric I showed you a couple days a go? Well here is project number one: cut, sewn, completed, and given to the happy new owner.

It is a nursing cover for a new momma. If your like me you will love this! Number one: the little rascal can't pull it down and expose you to everyone in sight when nursing in public. Number two: its fabric for you so most people don't even know your nursing, cause its obviously not a baby print fabric. Number three: easy to clean and pack with you on your travels. Number four: you can peek at the little rascal and nobody else can without having to move it all over the place.

I believe that every nursing mother would love to have one of these, they are so convinent and very cute. Want one? or do you know of someone wanting one? Let me know I can make it for you!
